Dragon Age Origins Over Achiever

So I finished playing Dragon Age Origins twice over and I’m still not done. Why? Because there are 25 blanks in my Achievement List! I know I’m being obsessive but I can’t help it. Actually I’m not so sure I’ll have the patience to play through all the different classes just to get the last 7 or so but I’m currently working on a must-have: “I’m Kind of a Big Deal” which you can get for completing the whole game without dying. Here’s the complete list (including the secret ones, so don’t click if you don’t want spoilers), to give you an idea of what I’m up against.

Personally, I think there should be an over-arching achievement for getting all the achievements and it should be called “Over Achiever”.

So you were able to get over the lack of positive ending in the game?

Not really. :D But I’m beginning to realize why the developers did that. There was one guy who posted on the forums about not wanting to replay the game because he was quite happy with his character’s ending, so I guess an unhappy one is what drives you to play it over and over again. :P

Hmm I just found this gem on the forums. It’s a response from one of the writers on the dev team, Sheryl Chee (I think the only female writer on DA:O) and it’s on one of those “romancing Alistair” threads. She says:

… That’s the story we wanted to tell. I’m sorry if it’s not to your liking. I know how some people feel about Morrigan’s proposal, that it’s just a way to continue with her in the sequel, and regardless of whether that’s true or not, you need to realize that it does give you an out. If it wasn’t there, there would be absolutely no way you could end up with Alistair. You’d die, or he’d die. And that’s that. A “happy ending” was never intended.

I understand in life you are handed situations like this that have no happy way out, but in my games I want a happy ending.
