Helping Tim Get The Animals Back

The first time you visit the zoo, you will run into Tim who gives you a camera. You will need to take pictures of animals you find roaming around, then go back to the zoo to give Tim the picture. He disappears (probably to go get the animal) when you do this so you can effectively just give him the pictures one at a time. He returns when the time of day changes.
Finding the animals is a little more complicated. If you walk around the zoo, you will find labels on each cage that tell you what each animal likes so you can figure out where to find them. However, some of the objects they like are not in the game by default so you will need to craft them with your Synth-O-Tron.
Since it’s easy enough to walk around and make your own list, I won’t put mine here. Go on… don’t be lazy! ![]()
I’m still working on my Synth-O-Tron crafting guide so in the mean time, here’s a list of the crafted items you need and how to get them:
- Tree stump - 2 hexagons
- Totem pole - planet + bubble
- Scarecrow - 2 question marks
- Snowman - 2 bubbles (bottom slot)
- Gate - planet + leaf/fire/heart/water/diamond/star
- Bench - heart + leaf (and also bubble + leaf/fire/heart/water/diamond/star)
- Swing - water + bubble (right slot)

My Sims Kingdom (DS) Walkthrough

I just started playing the game so I’m going to update this as I finish each level. One thing I noticed is that the gifts people give you vary depending on what you need so you don’t really need to do things in the sequence set down here. The game is a little less linear in this sense.
Star 1
- Your first task is to deliver a package to Dr. F. He’s right next door.
- Dr F. asks you to gather some essences for him. You can do that right outside the door.
- After the doctor’s mad spiel, Ellen walks in to hand you your house key.
- Go home, pull out your closet and your bed and sleep until morning. Well, you can explore if you want to but sleeping until morning triggers the next event.
- When you wake up, the town will be missing some buildings and decorations.
- Go see Dr. F. He will give you an Extractor and a Synth-O-Tron, and for your first experiment you will make a flowerbed!
- Go outside and set down the flowerbed you just made. You might be tempted to keep it for later but trust me, you must set it down.
- Talk to Mayor Ellen.
Star 2
- Talk to Roy in his furniture store. You’ll need to cheer him up so he’ll give you a Mysterious Magnet. If you choose the wrong emote, he will tell you what he thinks the appropriate one is, so you’ll eventually figure it out.
- Go east to the tennis court. Talk to Victoria and agree to play a match of tennis with her. Not sure what happens if you win because I lost every single time but she gave me a gift anyway - a Cryptic Coil.
- Chaz McFreely is near the tennis court. I don’t think talking to him makes any difference but go over and introduce yourself anyway.
- Talk to Sharon in her tailoring shop.Put the flower bed down in front of her shop and talk to her again. She’ll give you a Baffling Battery.
- Chef Ginois standing near the garden. He wants 3 vegetable sets but at this point, you haven’t unlocked the veggie minigame so not sure what’s up with that. He’s probably there every morning, wanting vegetable sets.
- Talk to Richard and agree to help him fix his compass.
- Talk to Dr. F. He will fix the compass if you give him the items he needs (which you should have by now).
- Go back to Richard. He will now take you across the river.
- When you get off the boat, Emily will be near you. Talk to her and she will tell you to meet her later at the gondola.
- Talk to Lily in her curio shop. You need to buy one appliance from her. At this point all you can afford is probably the boom box. She’ll give you a gift afterwards.
- Torajiro is in his house to the far west of the island. Talk to him but you won’t get any gifts.
- Hank is in his house to the east. Keep talking to him until he tells you his troubles. He needs a fish, which you don’t have… yet.
- Hugh should be standing somewhere near the fountain - he moves around so check your map to find him. Talk to him and he’ll ask you to come to his house (northeast of Hank’s) at night.
- Talk to Richard again to get back to the other island.
- This time, Emily will be way northeast at the gondola base. Talk to her.
- Report back to Mayor Ellen to trigger King Roland’s appearance and your promotion to Star 3!
Star 3
- Talk to Dr. F. You should have the two items he needs so give them to him. He will also give you a “broken” Synth-O-Tron. Oh, if you got the Golden Vacuum Tube from someone (obtained through minigame rewards), he will also upgrade your Synth-O-Tron or Extractor.
- Take the boat across the river and talk to Torajiro. Remember his problem? You now have the solution! (Give him Dr. F’s broken Synth)
- Torajiro will need 2 heart and 4 water essences to make the Basic Gondola Base so make sure you have those.
- After he makes the base for you, all you have to do is proceed to the gondola site (north of the tennis court).
- Talk to Emily to ride up to the mountain.
- You will encounter the villain as soon as you get off the gondola and at this point, you get a message to report back to the mayor. I think that’s all you need to do to complete Star 3 but since you’re already there, might as well explore the area and gather essences because some (the ? and the planet) can only be obtained in this area.
- Dean is all the way northwest and he seems to need something - a heater?
- Talk to Mayor Ellen. This completes the level.
Star 4
- After the cinematic, you of course head to Dr. F’s house to talk to him and Martin. If you have the stuff he needs to fix Martin’s plane, give them to him. Otherwise, you should be able to get them by completing your pending quests - catch a fish and give it to Hank or go to Hugh’s house at night and help him catch ghosts.
- Eventually, Dr. F will tell you that he can create a mecha-dog to help you find the villain but he needs a list of things: Bewildering Balancer, Sly Sensor, Dark Dynamo, Stupefying Speaker and Perplexing Paw. The only way to get those things is to win medals at the minigames so sharpen your minigaming skillz. I know. Bummer.
- It looks like the five items needed are given by random people when you complete their quests or qualify at a minigame (ie. you win at least a bronze medal). Unfortunately, most people (including myself) have had to qualify at the kayak race to get the last item. The only advice I can give to budding kayakers is to paddle like crazy. Save your game just before starting the minigame. This way if you get too frustrated and hurl your DS in anger, well.. at least you have a save point.
- I think you can also get the last item by helping Tim get all the animals back into the zoo but I have yet to confirm this. In any case, I’ll put up a guide on how to do this.
- Once you have all five items, talk to Dr. F again and he will create a mecha-dog, which runs off into the sunset leaving you behind.
- Extreme Spoiler Alert!!!! You can find the dog in the zoo. As soon as you zone in, a cinematic will start. The rest of the game pretty much plays itself from that point on.
After this, you will get your fifth star and the credits will start rolling. If you wait until it finishes, the scene goes back to Ellen’s office and you can continue playing from there. I guess at this point, your next goal is to get all the characters in the game to achieve fulfillment.

My Sims DS: Guide to the Stars

I started this guide because I couldn’t find much info on the internet about My Sims DS so I thought my notes would help others get past their stuck points. I’ve tried to limit it to a summary as much as possible so as not to spoil the game for those who like surprises. If you are stuck on something and don’t quite know how to get past it, please DO NOT send me an email but post your question on this thread and I’m pretty sure others will gladly help you.
I’d like to thank those who have been really helpful to others in the past. Please continue to post your hints and tips… they are much appreciated!
NOTE: If you are looking for a walkthrough for My Sims Kingdom (DS), click here.
First Star
- Find Tim and convince him to return home
- Make a sad Tyler (the tailor) happy
- Make an angry Ewan (the cop) happy (spoiler: tears work)
- Plant flowers for Ashley (the florist)
STAR LEVEL 1: Your activities have helped clean up the town a bit and the Sims in town seem happier! Keep up the good work.
Second Star
- You have to find the first tourist and get him/her in a good mood. Some events won’t be triggered if you don’t do this.
- Talk to Ashley (the florist) in her shop in the morning.
- Rescue Olivia from … herself.
- Talk to Joseph (the fisherman) and get him in the mood to introduce himself.
- Meet Sophie the furniture maker.
- If you still have time, talk to Tim until he gives you a racquetball racquet. Play at least one game of racquetball and then talk to Tim again. If you run out of time, you can do this in the afternoon, too.
- In the afternoon, return to Ashley and start making leis.
- Return to Joseph and get him in the mood to remember your name.
- Talk to Ewan the cop and take a picture of the Symbol Tree for him.
- Visit Tyler the tailor at his shop.
- In the evening, return to Joseph in the evening and get him in the mood to give you a fishing rod.
STAR LEVEL 2: A few stores have opened up and the town is picking up. The mayor is thinking of ways to improve the town’s transportation system.
Third Star
- Meet Charlie the baker. (If you buy 5 cakes from him, he will start passing along useful info about the other residents every time you buy something.)
- Meet Marie the highlands ranger and help her decorate the highlands.
- Play racquetball five times and Tim will introduce a new game (Target 1).
- Help Sophie name her store.
- Return to Marie the ranger in the morning and test drive her paraglider. NOTE: Looks like you don’t have a choice but to wait until the next morning to do this, so work on making money before then because you will need it after you get your third star.
STAR LEVEL 3: All the stores in the town are open for business and everyone is eager to work. Sims from the lively town on the outlying island are coming to the mayor’s town.
Fourth Star
- Meet Foster the forest ranger and help improve the forest area. You need to use all the five decoration options in order to get points here.
- Buy at least 5 pieces of furniture from Sophie to trigger her shop’s advancement.
- Meet Nicki the boat operator and take the boat to the Entertainment area.
- Meet Elizabeth and buy her pet house, if you have the money. Note that you don’t have to buy the house to get the points but hey, what self respecting Sim doesn’t want a mansion, especially if it’s a bargain?
- Help Marie the ranger improve the highlands area some more.
- Play the Target 1 racquetball game until Tim opens up the Target 2 game.
- Make 5 small leis and Ashley will ask you to start making regular leis.
- Make 5 regular leis and Ashley will ask you to start making large leis.
- Visit Sophie the next day and buy her new furniture. I believe the magic number is 5.
- Visit Sophie again the next day and she will ask you to make a design for your furniture.
STAR LEVEL 4: The boat can be taken to the Entertainment Area and more new places are opening up. The only place still closed is the mountain…
Fifth Star
- Meet Tracy the mountain ranger and dig up stuff for her around the cabin.
- Keep digging for ore until you get enough points to exchange for a statue head and body.
- Take the statue parts to the mayor.
- Return to Tracy the next day and test out the paraglider for her.
- On your way to Tracy’s, stop and talk to Foster. He will ask you to make animal feed and whether you do or not, you don’t get any points but you need to talk to him to trigger the next (Foster) event.
- On the next time segment, return to Foster and he will ask you to help him with the forest for the last time.
- Help Marie improve the highlands for the third and last time.
- If you still need more points, find ways to make money and buy that house from Elizabeth.
STAR LEVEL 5: All areas are now accessible and the town is almost fully developed. There are some sims interested in taking up a new sport!
At this point, you will stop earning stars. But there are still new areas to discover, new sims to meet, and events I haven’t even mentioned in this guide. If you need more help, just send me an email (trinity @ female-gamer.com) or leave a comment here.
Have fun!
