Book 11 Compendium

Features, News| 1 Comment »

LotRO Vault has put up a Patch Tree on all things related to Book 11. If you are into decorating your house, it’s a good place to find what items are available and where you can get those. I even found something for Loremasters in the most unlikely of places and I posted it there, so go check it out!

Dwarf Homes Interactive Map

Thorin's Hall HomesI’ve been so busy I forgot to add the link to the Dwarf Homes map here. It’s being hosted by LOTRO Vault as well so the link goes to the vault website. Didn’t realize I didn’t have it until I noticed that all links to my maps don’t include the dwarf ones, silly me. Enjoy!

Shire HomesThe Shire housing area opened up on the Roheryn server yesterday so here’s my map, as promised. This time around, LOTRO Vault is hosting it so the link on the left will take you to their website but it works the same way as my Bree and Falathlorn housing maps. If you hover your mouse on a piece of property, the address should pop up. Clicking on the address will display a picture of the property, taken from the driveway entrance.

Falathlorn Interactive MapAs promised, here’s the map of the Falathlorn player neighborhood. Click on the map to the left to view the whole area. The map doesn’t work well with Firefox so use Internet Explorer to view it properly. If you hover your mouse on a piece of property, the address should pop up. Clicking on the address will display a picture of the property, taken from the driveway entrance.

Enjoy!

Breeland Homestead Interactive Map

Man HousingLooking around the Breeland Homestead neighborhood today, I realized why the prices may vary according to the address. Some of those homes have nicer views, and one even has a gazebo in its front yard. And because I was bored, I thought I’d map out the neighborhood for those of you who are planning to buy a house and have no idea where to buy. Click on the picture to the left to see the map. If you hover your mouse over a lot, the address should pop up (doesn’t seem to work with Firefox though). Clicking on the property will take you to a picture of the house. Enjoy!

I’ll map out the Falathlorn area when I get a chance.

LotRO Housing Review

The “Open House” preview on the Roheryn server is over and the devs are asking for feedback on the forums. I posted my own two-cents there but I thought I’d elaborate on and share it with those of you who might have missed the event.

For the unaware, the Roheryn server is a “preview server” (not a test server, I’ve been told) for Lord of the Rings Online. It’s the staging ground for the big enhancements they have been introducing into the game since it was launched last April (has it really only been six months?!), and usually it’s not the final version that actually goes into production. As they are getting ready to publish the Book 11 expansion, which includes player housing, the changes are in Roheryn but no houses were on sale except for a limited period of time yesterday afternoon (1-4 PM EDT). Judging from the turnout at the “Open House” event, considering that it was held during working hours on a working day, a great number of people must have been as excited about the new feature as I was. Here are a couple of pictures to show you what I mean.

Turbine didn’t announce the mechanics of the open house but in this case, the early birds caught the proverbial worm because there was a finite number of homes on sale. Supposedly, in the live version, new neighborhoods open up as old ones fill up but no new neighborhoods appeared on the list yesterday. Within a few minutes after the elf houses went on sale, the deluxe homes were gone. A few minutes later so were the standard houses. I imagine not too many testers bothered creating a kinship so there were quite a few of those available.

Now, let me tackle the housing features one by one.
