A PvPing we will go…

The Adventures of  an awkward War-Leader:

Friday night, US Primetime: I call the war-leader to come out and play. She has not seen the dark of night for quite a while and needed the exercise; she was getting a bit slow. Now, the war-leader never comes out unless there is a group of Creeps running around due to her inability to kill even a fly, but out she went. And guess what? Yep, she died…. Over and over and over again. The Free peoples of Middle Earth apparently have not heard of a holiday before and decided to get everyone including their mothers to come out and kick our asses left and right through out the Ettenmoors. While the war-leader did get that much closer to ranking, it still was a bit bitter sweet seeing her death count. Eventually after two hours of trying to get the Free People out of their keep even though they were outnumbering us, the war-leader decided to call it quits; it was no use blowing her rez just to die once again. So, she mapped back to Gramsfoot, and went back into her cave until she was needed once again./Sigh… what a long night that was.

__________PvPing is fun, it is exciting, but at the same time it can be very annoying. Nothing is worse than trying to pick a fight with a group that out numbers you and refuses to leave its’ own NPCs. Seriously? You out number us, and YOU sit in NPCs? Talk about ass backwards huh?I guess it comes with the territory of playing against others. They decide what they want to do rather than a computer. It still goes to show the mentality of certain raid leaders. Some are in it for the fun and keep it fair (well, as fair as it can be), while others are in it for the e-peen stroking and seeing the pretty reknown/infamy numbers fly above their heads the easy way. This goes for both sides of the playing field. It is not just the Freeps that do this, Creeps do this as well. Let me tell you, it is frustrating to no end when either side does this. You know what would be nice? A new balance mechanic to be introduced: If one side is outnumbering the other side and they hide in their NPCs, the NPCs start to disappear from the area. I am sure that there would probably be a lot of yelling and screaming on both ends but think about it. Are you there to kill NPCs and PvE or are you there to kick some ass and take names of actual players? I know why I am there. Ok, I am there just cause I love the way my Warg looks, but none the less! I am there to kick some ass and take names! If I wanted to PvE, I would log over to one of my many PvE characters and go kill things. The reality of it all is that I can sit here and type as much as I would like in hopes that maybe someone from the developmental team at Turbine would see my idea and love it enough to implement it. Truth be told, it won’t be seen and won’t be implemented. It is still nice to be able to speak my mind in how I think a game I enjoy should be ran.

I remember when Anarchy Online implemented PvP. They put a bubble on the combat area with a cap on the number of combatants for each side. Everyone else got bounced out until there was a death freeing room for them to enter the fray.

That is a really great idea clay. I would not mind whatsoever seeing that implemented into LOTRO. It makes things a bit more fair for sure.
